What is Myofunctional Therapy?
Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy is the treatment of orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs). OMDs are patterns involving oral and orofacial musculature that interfere with normal growth and development including function of those structures. OMDs can be found in children, adolescents and adults. OMDs could be caused by learned behaviors, physical/structural deficits, genetic and environmental factors. Goals include correcting oral rest posture, nasal breathing, tongue posture, lip seal and correct chew and swallow patterns. Myofunctional therapy is also successful in elimination of noxious oral habits such as finger/thumb sucking, nail biting, tongue sucking, chewing on objects, clothes, etc.

What is CFT (Craniosacral Facial Therapy)?
